The Little Book of Hygge and The Little Book of Lykke by Meik Wiking

Thank you to William Morrow Books for generously supplying me with a review copy of The Little Book of Hygge and The Little Book of Lykke by Meik Wiking. I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Earlier this month my husband and I listened to The Little Book of Hygge. We chose it because it was relatively short and we knew could both get the chance to listen to it together over the course of our weekend. We both enjoyed it so much that I promptly went and ordered a copy for my shelf because I knew it was a book I would recommend and lend out. Plus it is just so cute and pretty it was a no-brainer for me to buy it. I loved all the concepts of home and making your home a warm and comfortable place where you feel safe. I spend a huge amount of time at home and it is so important to me that my home has a cozy and safe feeling. I really enjoyed discovering that my home already was very Hyggely, but I never had a specific word for it beyond “cozy.” Now every time I light a candle I tell my husband I am just making our home more Hyggely. We always just laugh and enjoy it that much more. This book was just such a delight to me and just the read I needed at the time.

The lovely folks at @williammorrowbookswere kind enough to send me a copy of Meik Weikings new book The Little Book of Lykke. This book dives more into the concept of why Denmark is deemed people are named the worlds happiest people. I enjoyed learning more about the things that make Denmark “happy.” Some of the information was very statistical and that did get a bit receptive at tines, but overall I enjoyed this book and loved learning more about Denmark. Which by the way is high on my list of places I want to visit when we celebrate our ten year anniversary next year. I treated these books as research for our trip and mainly because I want to be surrounded by these happy people. Oh and drink their coffee, shop in their cozy stores, and people watch.
